incredicoder is a basic HTML editor written with Flex and ActionScript. I haven’t seen anything similar out there in the Flex community, so I thought I would make it available for everyone to use and learn from. My hope is that people will continue to build upon what I’ve done so far. Please contact me if you’d like to contribute to the project in any way.
- Find and Replace
- HTML templates
- HTML preview
- Support for HTML form controls, tables, lists, links, media, and basic formatting
Another feature worth mentioning is how text selections are handled. In general, if you have selected a portion of text and then use one of the toolbar buttons to insert an HTML element, the text you had selected will be replaced with the new HTML being inserted. However some of the buttons will take the text selection and either wrap it in the HTML (i.e.: wrap selection in <p></p> tags) or pre-fill the dialog window that comes up (i.e.: selections are brought in as form drop-down options or list items in a list).
I’m currently converting the code over to the Flex 4 SDK. Following that I plan to implement the following features:
- Syntax coloring
- Auto-indentation of code
- Keyboard shortcuts to apply HTML tag to selection
- Ability to return to tag properties dialog window and edit properties by double clicking the tag
This project uses the Flex 3.4 SDK. Should be compatible with earlier/newer releases of Flex 3.
